Sweet potatoes: A good harvest in Kabondo

Sweet potato farmers in Kabondo have been smiling all the way to the bank with a good harvest coupled with good prices for potatoes. Currently, a 100Kg bag goes for about Ksh.4000($50). The demand and good prices is as a result of lack of supplies from Tanzania.

Potato farming in Tanzania is very seasonal even though in the past year, Tanzanian farmers have proved a formidable competition for the lucrative Nairobi sweet potato market. For now, producers in Kabondo can make hay while the sun shines and get the best deals while the getting is good before the July-August peak when sweet potatoes will flood the market.

If you would like to make an order within Nairobi City, please send an email to kabondofarms@yahoo.com
Many thanks.
